When I was a little girl, I wanted nothing more than for my name to be Christy. I thought it was the most beautiful name in the world. And Diandra…. Well no one had ever heard that name and everyone mispronounced it and spelled it wrong. One day my mom brought home a book for me. It was called “Chrysanthemum” and it was about a little mouse names Chrysanthemum, who hates her name for the same reasons. By the end of the book, she realized how unique and special her name is and she comes to love it. I, too. Came to love my unique and special name. Today in the grocery store, I passed these chrysanthemums, and I stopped in my tracks. I got a little emotional as I picked them up and thought about my own daughter, Julisabel. I adore her name. I think it’s the most beautiful name I have ever heard. But I know not everyone agrees, and I am guessing there will come a time in her life when she isn’t find of it either. I hope I can be the kind of mama that I had who will help her to love and appreciate her beautiful and unique name. She is one of a kind, just like her name. And I am happy to have these little chrysanthemums in my house to remind me that I am too.
